2011 Deadline Extension: January 16
Hello all,
We have proven most tardy in sending out deadline reminders — as such, please consider the deadline extended to January 16. Next year, we’ll hold off on consuming so much rum and (vegan) eggnog!

2011 Call for Submissions
We are accepting submissions! If you (or someone you know) has a piece of academic writing, creative writing, poetry, or visual art that pertains to feminism, we will be happy to accept it for review. Please see About & Submit for more details. The deadline for submissions is January 7, 2011.
Ignite is in the process of moving to UBC’s OJS system, which will make us more accessible to you, our current readers, as well as to future local and international readerships. Please pardon any moving kerfuffle in the meantime.

Hello there, femininjas (or femipirates, if you prefer) —
Now that the 2010 school year’s in full swing, I thought I’d throw out a reminder that you can view the May 2010 issue of Ignite in PDF format under “The Current Issue.” Read articles on everything from midwifery to Broadway musicals!

Launch Party
Come celebrate Ignite’s first issue on Friday November 20th from 1-4 in the Centre for Women and Gender Studies at UBC. There will be snacks, some cake and perhaps some entertainment in the form of music and poetry.Stop by or stay for the whole time!
This will be a great opportunity to meet the lovely people who have submitted to Ignite, the Editorial Board as well as Women and Gender Studies professors.

Hello all,
I’m happy – no, jubilant – to announce that the first-ever issue of UBC’s feminist undergrad journal, Ignite, has hit the web waves. We’re1 still working out a few kinks – we want to make sure the site’s technically vanilla, in other words – so please let us know if anything seems a bit off.
In the meantime, do check out our inaugural issue, find out more about us and how to get involved, or doodle around on the site of our sponsoring department, the UBC Centre for Women’s and Gender Studies.
In the future, this space will be used for updates by me or the journal’s glorious editor, Becky, to inform you about news, events, deadlines, and opportunities to get involved with Ignite and related initiatives.
